HIMSS18: Nasuni and Microsoft Customers Present Breakout Session on Scalable Storage for Medical Images

March 05, 2018 | Anne Blanchard HIMSS18: Nasuni and Microsoft Customers Present Breakout Session on Scalable Storage for Medical Images

Nearly 45,000 healthcare professionals from around the world are converging this week in Las Vegas for HIMSS 2018. Nasuni will be there with our cloud storage partner Microsoft and two of our joint healthcare customers with a clear message for IT and business executives: Empower Clinicians with Limitless Storage for Patient Images with Azure and Nasuni Cloud File Services.

Austin Radiological Associates and Faith Regional Health System Present in HIMSS Breakout Session

Anyone who has attended HIMSS knows the conference’s strict policy on breakout sessions. Each 60-minute session is designed to showcase customer case studies on topics important to the health IT conversation. More than 3,000 submissions are carefully reviewed and vetted before selecting the small number that address issues most concerning to attendees.

That’s why we’re so thrilled our submission Scalable Storage and Disaster Recovery Infrastructure for Medical Images featuring joint Nasuni and Azure customers Austin Radiological Association (ARA) and Faith Regional Health Services was selected.

Todd Thomas, CIO at ARA, and Paul Feilmeier, Director of IT at Faith Regional, will be the co-presenters in this breakout session. They will discuss how protecting patient images from disaster events and providing HIPAA-compliant backup became ongoing challenges when their image repositories are growing at 20-30% a year, and they are faced with the real-life problems of Tornado Alley and national Ransomware attacks.

The session details how they solved these problems by first realizing they would not go away. Todd and Paul then share their unstructured data storage, protection, and long term retention strategies built around Azure cloud storage and Nasuni’s global file system. They conclude with a review of their business results, comparing the “before” with traditional file storage and the “after” with Azure and Nasuni.

Session ID: 265
Date: Thursday, March 8, 2:30 – 3:30pm
Location: Venetian Palazzo Ballroom, Section G
