Boosting Enterprise Performance with Global File Acceleration & Rapid Ransomware Recovery

Fast performance has always been one of our highest technical priorities at Nasuni. Even from our earliest days as a company, we knew that cloud file storage wouldn’t be adopted by the enterprise if it didn’t deliver the file access speeds and ransomware recovery services that end users expected. As VP of Customer Experience at Nasuni, I work closely with some of our largest enterprise customers, so I know firsthand that these global brands are happy with the performance of Nasuni cloud file storage. But it never hurts to get even faster.

Today, we are excited to announce that we are further accelerating performance in two important areas. The first centers around the release of Global File Acceleration (GFA), a highly-available cloud service that makes multi-site file synchronization up to five times faster. As a bonus, GFA further strengthens our advantage in Rapid Ransomware Recovery. Nasuni has already established itself as the cloud file storage platform of choice for ransomware recovery for several of the world’s leading enterprises.  GFA only improves upon that, setting even tighter Recovery Point Objectives on newly-created data to minimize the risk of data loss.

Rapid Ransomware Recovery

Before I circle back to GFA, let me explain our Rapid Ransomware Recovery capabilities. As my colleagues have detailed in previous posts, no technology can absolutely prevent a ransomware attack. The real question is how quickly you can recover, and return to business as usual, after an attack does occur. Traditional backup and tape solutions might allow you to restore older, unencrypted files, but you’ll have to wait days or even weeks for that to happen, if you’re lucky that the data you need is , in fact, available and in-tact. Even some modern cloud backup solutions are not much better, since they still require moving those unencrypted files from the cloud back into primary storage. As our founder Andres explained in a recent post, this isn’t easy.

Nasuni offers a completely different approach. Check out the video above that explains it well. I’ll also summarize the key points here. Our Continuous File Versioning technology takes unlimited snapshots of each and every file change and stores them in immutable object storage in the cloud. If a ransomware attack occurs, you don’t need to move any files or rebuild any file servers to get back to a healthy state. Instead, you simply dial back to any previous versions of unaffected volumes, folders, and even individual files without actually having to move any data.

As a result, Nasuni enables enterprises to restore millions of files in a matter of minutes.
