New Cloud-Based Controller Enables Easier Connectivity for Cloud-Based Infrastructure And Mobile Employees; Upgraded Hardware Controller Line Includes Solid State Drives and Larger Cache Options

NATICK, Mass. – October 22, 2013 – Nasuni®, a provider of enterprise storage to large, distributed organizations, today announced a major expansion of its storage controller line. Nasuni customers can now choose from a much wider array of Nasuni Filer storage controllers, including on-site virtual machines (VMs), VMs in the cloud, and hardware Filers with solid state drive (SSD) options.

With this expanded line of Nasuni Filers, enterprise IT can optimize data storage to meet the needs of each location according to the number of users and the type of applications, whether they be ordinary word processing and spreadsheet software, or complex engineering software like AutoCAD and Revit that create much larger files.

Nasuni provides globally-distributed organizations with a simple, unified storage solution for every location. By integrating on-premise or cloud-based storage controllers with cloud storage, Nasuni delivers a secure, all-in-one data storage solution that provides local performance for users, simplified and centralized management for IT, and an easily scalable, complete storage solution for every office of the enterprise.

Storage Controller in the Cloud
With the addition of a virtual storage controller in the cloud, Nasuni makes it possible for organizations deploying all or part of their infrastructure in in the cloud to use cloud storage just like traditional enterprise file storage. Nasuni virtual controllers now are deployable as native machines in Amazon EC2 and Microsoft Azure. Nasuni is the first Cloud-integrated Storage provider to enable controller support for Azure – even before Microsoft’s own offering.

Nasuni virtual storage controllers provide in-cloud access to data stored with Nasuni, allowing organizations who are moving infrastructure to the cloud to leverage object storage using the protocols their applications already support. Legal firms, for example, can leverage cloud computing to do indexing on corporate file data, dramatically reducing the need for on-premises infrastructure. Distributed organizations can deploy a Nasuni controller in the cloud to support mobile access for traveling employees, using the unlimited network capacity of the cloud to deliver the best possible experience to their end users.

Expanded Hardware Line: SSD and Larger Cache
Nasuni also introduced its expanded line of hardware Nasuni Filers.  In addition to VM Filers, Nasuni provides a selection of hardware Filers to meet customer requirements in larger offices that require more performance.

With the new line, Nasuni has introduced SSD models that are more than twice as fast as a traditional spinning disk, enabling them to support greater numbers of users and more complex applications.

Nasuni also now offers a wider range of cache sizes, from 6 TB to 24 TB, which enables enterprise IT to tailor each appliance to the needs of a specific office and fine tune the balance of local storage and performance.

Finally, because customer data ultimately lives in the cloud, IT has the flexibility to change endpoints as local requirements change without the need for a data migration. IT simply swaps out devices, connects the new device to the service and users once again have complete access to the entire fileshare with the same superior level of performance and protection.

“Our customers have been telling us that they want to put Nasuni in their corporate data center and, with SSD they can do so with confidence,” said Andres Rodriguez, CEO of Nasuni. “Also, with the addition of the cloud-based virtual Filer, we’ve also given corporate IT new options for big data analysis and the ability to vastly improve performance of their cloud-based applications. We’re constantly innovating to bring Nasuni to a wider range of enterprises and expanding use cases.”

Nasuni does not sell its storage controllers as stand-alone devices; instead, they are used by Nasuni customers to access the service. For more information on Nasuni’s hardware line, please visit http://www.nasuni.com/controller.
