Information lifecycle management faded into oblivion without getting serious notice. But it’s back with a new name and more realistic goals.
The phrase “information lifecycle management” seemed to serve as a cure for insomnia when it was first introduced. Even its acronym — ILM — failed to catch on in an industry that loves acronyms. And saying “ILM” to a storage manager produced glazed eyes, a stony silence or both.
