Made For This Moment From the Start

Nasuni CEO Sam King announces a new era for enterprise AI, positioning Nasuni as the governed foundation for unstructured file data at scale.

April 7, 2026  |  Sam King, CEO, Nasuni

Today marks a big moment for Nasuni. I want to take a few minutes to explain what we’re announcing and why it matters for every enterprise trying to make AI work at scale.

For over a decade, Nasuni has been building the infrastructure that large organizations trust with their most critical file data. The engineering drawings your teams collaborate on across continents. The construction documents that keep billion-dollar projects on schedule. The research files, the media assets, the operational data your business actually runs on every day.

This isn’t cold data storage. It’s live. It’s being created and revised constantly. It’s how your people work. And now the world is asking something new of that data.

The Context Gap

Enterprises everywhere are racing to deploy AI (copilots, agents, automated workflows). The energy is real, the investment is real, and early results are starting to show up. But there’s a problem hiding in plain sight.

AI is only as good as the data that feeds it. The frontier models are extraordinary and getting better fast. But the model isn’t the moat anymore. The real competitive advantage in this era is the private operational data that those models reason over. The context that makes an AI response actually useful to your specific business rather than generically capable.

And most of that data lives in files.

Here’s what the industry is waking up to: the enterprise AI stack has a critical gap. Powerful retrieval and reasoning platforms exist, but they were largely built for structured data like rows, columns, schemas, and databases.

The 70 to 80% of enterprise data that lives in unstructured files — the designs, the project records, the contracts, the media — has had no governed foundation for AI to actually work with. It’s scattered across sites, clouds, and edge locations. It lacks consistent permissions. It has no continuously indexed, globally accessible layer that AI systems can safely retrieve from.

Until now.

Nasuni is the Foundation

Nasuni has a unique and critical role to play in the enterprise AI stack: the authoritative operational file layer that feeds reasoning and retrieval systems with governed, globally accessible operational data. Permission-aware. Continuously indexed. Built on a global namespace that spans every major cloud.

What makes this moment so meaningful to us is how we got here.

We didn’t build this for AI. We built it for people. We want enterprise teams to work without limits across distributed locations, multiple clouds, and complex governance requirements. Global namespace, permissions, versioning, and protection have all been baked into the core from the very beginning.

It turns out that architecture is exactly what AI agents need as well. Global namespace means AI has a single, consistent view of your file data. There are no fragmented silos to reconcile. Built-in permissions mean AI agents inherit the same access controls your people operate within. Continuous indexing means AI is always working with fresh, current data, not stale snapshots.

We weren’t chasing a trend. We were building the right foundation.

What We’re Introducing Today

Product enhancements (faster teams, smarter AI, one trusted foundation):

  • Active Everywhere v6, powered by our acquisition of Resilio, brings LAN-speed file access to all edge sites — every manufacturing plant, every office, every field location — without proprietary hardware, WAN optimization appliances, or per-site licensing. It runs entirely within Nasuni’s existing namespace, permissions, and governance. For customers managing distributed teams across dozens or hundreds of locations, with hardware costs rising and supply constrained, this changes the equation entirely. One platform. Every site. No new infrastructure to manage. This will be in preview Q2, with general availability in Q3 2026.
  • AI Activate lets AI agents and large language models work directly on your governed file data through the Model Context Protocol (MCP) within your existing permissions. No separate data pipelines. No copies of your data being moved somewhere else. Any authorized AI tool can discover, read, and act on file data grounded in the same source of truth your people depend on every day. The AI meets your data where it lives and inherits the same trust boundaries your teams have always operated within. We’re opening an invite-only preview in Q2, with general availability in Q3 2026.

Taken together, these aren’t just product launches. They’re the expression of an architectural commitment we made years ago — that governed, globally accessible, unstructured file data would one day sit at the center of how enterprises operate. That day is here.

A Refreshed Brand to Meet This Moment

Our new brand marks our evolution from cloud file storage innovator to the unstructured data foundation for enterprise teams and AI.

This new identity reflects our expanded strategic mission and a belief that the best outcomes happen when enterprise teams are empowered by trusted data and supported by AI on the same governed foundation. Central to this evolution, we will put our customers at the heart of every story, celebrating the work they do and the impact they make across the industries they serve.

To our customers: thank you for trusting us with data that matters. To our partners: thank you for what we build together. And to the Nasuni team: everything we’re sharing today is a reflection of your commitment and your craft.

Our work together has met the right moment. Let’s build what comes next.
