Microsoft Showcases Nasuni and Azure for Unlimited PACS Storage at HIMSS 2017

For the second year in a row, Nasuni was asked to present our cloud file storage solution at HIMSS to show healthcare IT professionals how they can more cost-effectively store, backup, and recover PACS files. This year at HiMSS 2017, Microsoft invited Nasuni and other key Azure partners to demonstrate their innovative solutions in the Microsoft Theatre. Recognizing that the 40,000 attendees would rather hear from their IT peers than the hundreds of vendors exhibiting at the conference, we brought along one of our healthcare customers to explain how the combined power of Azure and Nasuni is enabling them to transform their PACS storage infrastructure.

Nasuni CEO Andres Rodriguez and Paul Feilmeier, the IT Infrastructure Manager at Faith Regional Health Services, presented in the Microsoft Theatre on how Nasuni and Azure have enabled the health provider to overcome the capacity, data protection and access challenges associated with the rapid growth of its Heart and Vascular services. At Faith Regional Health Services, the Heart and Vascular practice is growing, and its PACS solution was running out of storage capacity for individual images and studies.

During the presentation, Andres and Paul discussed:

  • How improvements in medical imaging technology are increasing file sizes and driving up storage and protection costs
  • Why Faith Regional chose to move away from traditional storage arrays and embrace Nasuni’s cloud-native file system, UniFS®
  • The drastic drops in RPOs and RTOs after Faith switched to cloud-backed data protection with Nasuni and Azure
  • Faith Regional’s strict HIPAA requirements, and how Nasuni’s strong encryption and security model met their standards

Together, Nasuni and Microsoft Azure provide healthcare organizations with an innovative, HIPAA compliant file storage solution that solves key PACS infrastructure problems.

With Nasuni, Faith Regional Health Services deployed a solution that eliminated capacity concerns while also providing data protection and disaster recovery – all for less than the cost of traditional NAS filers, backup software, and the IT operational costs needed to administer them.

If you didn’t attend HIMSS 2017, you’ll have another chance to hear Paul explain how Faith Regional’s PACS storage can now be cost-effectively scaled on-demand. On March 23 at 2pm ET, Paul will be headlining a webinar sponsored by Nasuni and Azure. Click here to save your seat.
