Vice President of Engineering
Matt McDonald drives the design of the Nasuni Filer and Nasuni Mobile, overseeing product development and release schedules. He has specialized in data storage for 15 years and owns a number of patents related to distributed object storage.
Matt began his career at Data General’s CLARiiON group before it was acquired by EMC. From EMC CLARiiON he moved to EMC Centera, one of the first large scale distributed object storage systems, where he tackled several different challenges related to storing large numbers of objects. Next he spent six years at Hitachi Data Systems Archivas, beginning in system architecture before moving up to manage the development group there for his last two years. At HDS, Matt earned four patents on distributed object storage design. In 2010, Matt joined Nasuni as part of the architecture team, leveraging his deep experience in distributed object storage systems to help build the backbone of Nasuni’s global file system.
With an infant at home and a passion for building the next generation file system, Matt is still trying to find time for a round of golf.
He has a BS in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and an MBA from Babson College.
