1. Shrink On-Premises Infrastructure

He said, “One of the good things with Nasuni is that we’ve got it set so that if data isn’t accessed over six to 12 months, it is archived. It can still be retrieved, if necessary, but without it being stored on the main device, you can keep it the same size. Your data size can go up but it’s because it only presents the most recently used data. That really helps us, not having to order new physical devices every couple of years.”

A customer in the insurance industry reports having only three physical servers, but 26 virtual servers. According to their Cloud Support Service Lead, “We are saving a lot of space by having those 26 virtual servers. It reduces our maintenance and storage costs. We have saved a lot there.”

Another Nasuni customer, a construction company, often has to set up temporary offices at job sites anywhere from a building to a stretch of highway. A Sr. IT Network Infrastructure Engineer at the company says they no longer need to purchase hardware for those locations. “Instead, we have been able to access other edge appliances within the company,” he explains. “We can utilize existing hardware and don’t need to buy new hardware for a particular job. That has certainly saved a lot of money on hardware – on the order of a few thousand dollars for the cost of a job-site server.”

2. Shift from Capex to Opex

The transition from capex to opex storage with Nasuni also yields savings. Jeff Pisano, Head of Information Technology at a financial services firm, said eliminating on-premises infrastructure has reduced their costs by a good 50 percent.

Pasquale Saccomanno, a Chief Information Officer at a construction firm, explained that his company doesn’t have to continue to buy storage capacity as they did before. “In this regard, it has reduced our SAN refresh costs.

A marketing services firm found that switching to Nasuni translated into significantly lower operating costs, per their System Administrator. “We have saved six figures,” he reported. “Our capital costs have been reduced because we don’t have to buy as much excess capacity. It has been reduced by 75%.

Joe Marando, the CIO of JERDE, explained that Nasuni’s Continuous File Versioning saves him money on purchasing expensive backup solutions: “We still use on-premises infrastructure, but it does eliminate part of our infrastructure. It is about a 20% savings versus conventional storage arrays and backup solutions. It has reduced our capital cost by about 40%.”

A Team Lead at a tech services company said in his review that using the solution has helped to reduce the time it takes to recover data in the event of a disaster. Moreover, it lowered their cost of operations and reduced their workload. He added, “Our savings through using Nasuni is approximately 35%.”
