The Friends We Met at AWS re:Invent

December 12, 2019 | Stephen Skidmore The Friends We Met at AWS re:Invent

To say AWS re:Invent is a HUGE show is an understatement! Over 60,000 people were expected to attend, and the logistics alone of how they fed all those people blew my mind! The Nasuni team headed out to Vegas as a show sponsor and we got to meet some of those 60k people, pass out fun tchotchkes, and demonstrate the power of the Nasuni + AWS partnership.

This was our first time exhibiting, and we greatly appreciate being part of AWS’s flagship customer event as an APN Advanced Technology – Storage Competency Partner. It’s clear, based on the sheer size of the crowd and the enormous ecosystem of AWS partners providing new and exciting solutions, that the industry has gotten very serious about the advantages of the cloud. When you stand in the middle of the great hall of sponsors from all parts of the world, you can’t help but be amazed at what an impact AWS has had on shaping technology’s future.

While the days were long, it gave our team a chance to meet with many AWS industry segment leaders to explore how we can help our mutual customers extract more value from their file data.

We are proud of the early renewal of our FY20 AWS Advanced Technology partner status! Thank you, Sabina Joseph and team, for the honor and accompanying plaque, which we’ve hung with pride in our Customer Briefing Center here in Boston.

The best part of the AWS community is the people. Besides talking with so many interesting folks, hearing what they do, and why they came to AWS, it’s amazing to run into those you already know. I got to have dinner with an old friend I used to work with about 20 years ago as well as meet up with friends from my last company.

We also ran into friends who happen to be Nasuni customers too! I’m sure there were many others I didn’t get to talk with, but while I was at the booth look who I saw:

Under Armour

Ozzie Nos and Drew Snyder

Under Armour is a well-known American company that manufactures footwear, sports, and casual apparel with over $5B in revenue. With Nasuni and AWS, Under Armour’s team now has a single global file platform that provides them with cloud-scale, universal file access, and conflict-free file collaboration, along with active archiving for older creative work.

Omnicom Group

Muzafar Mohammad

Omnicom Group is a global leader in marketing communications, and brand and advertising services provider to over 5000 clients in over 100 countries, employing over 77,000 people world-wide. By consolidating silos of file storage on Nasuni and AWS from branch offices around the world, they were able to drastically reduce costs and simplify management.

Meredith Corporation

Michael Kientoff, David Coffman, and Jordan Peterson

Meredith Corporation is an American media conglomerate based in Des Moines, Iowa. Meredith is the No. 1 magazine operator in the U.S. and owns brands such as PEOPLE, Better Homes & Gardens, InStyle, REAL SIMPLE and Parents.

During the week of AWS, Meredith was also quoted in a press release about how they are moving their traditional, on-premises file infrastructure to AWS with Nasuni. You can also watch a video that explains who Meredith is and how we’re working with them.

ZS

Ijaz Hussain

ZS is a professional services firm that works side by side with companies to help develop and deliver products that drive customer value and company results using analytics. They are currently moving their files to Nasuni and the AWS cloud to be centrally accessible to anyone in the organization.

KKR (Kohlberg Kravis Roberts)

Vlad Pisaryuk

KKR is an American global investment firm that manages multiple alternative asset classes, including private equity, energy, infrastructure, real estate, credit, and, through its strategic partners, hedge funds with $153B in assets under management. KKR has consolidated all of the files from their New York, Menlo Park, and APAC offices on AWS and Nasuni.

If you didn’t get to go (or even if you did) check out the fun videos I created about what it’s like to be at the AWS re:Invent showcase!

What a way to wrap up a great 2019 with our alliance partner, AWS and re:Invent! We’re looking forward to going to re:Invent 2020 where we’ll connect with more old friends and maybe even run into you!
