Key Features of Nasuni Cloud Storage Gateway
Nasuni technology capitalizes on all the strengths of the cloud, and overcomes the potential drawbacks, delivering the following critical features:
Automatic Provisioning
Nasuni delivers virtually unlimited cloud storage from leading providers. File management and provisioning are automated: Capacity expands in line with the customer’s needs. Customers only pay for what they use.
Snapshot File-Protection Technology
Synchronous snapshots capture the entire file system periodically. Deduped snapshots are safely stored in the cloud, and customers can roll back to any given period in the life of a file, directory, or file system.
Fast Restore
During a restore, metadata is pulled back from the cloud first, so users can see the existence of needed files immediately. The remainder of the data is then pulled back from the cloud if/when the user goes to open that file. As a result, Nasuni can restore an entire file system to a previous time in an instant. The metadata appears first, and then the cache gradually fills with the associated files as they are streamed back from the cloud.
With proper credentials, customers can also initiate a restore from any location.
High-Performance Caching
Advanced algorithms ensure that a relatively small cache can support a potentially infinite cloud. Copies of working data remain in local storage infrastructure for fast offline access. Changes to these copies are deduped, compressed, chunked, and sent to the cloud periodically, keeping the customer’s file set in the cloud updated.
End-to-End Encryption
Nasuni encrypts data at the customer’s premises, using OpenPGP with AES-256. Data and metadata are sent over a secure channel and remain encrypted in the cloud. The customer retains control of the decryption keys.
