We’ve noted before that experts are forecasting 2010 as the year that cloud storage truly arrives, and the industry certainly is growing, as yet another cloud storage option recently went live - the SaaS company OpSource added a pay-as-you-go service. Last week we also picked up a benchmark of another sort: Cloud storage was mentioned in renowned Wall Street Journal writer Walter Mossberg’s Personal Technology column. Granted, it only earned a paragraph in the piece, which explains cloud computing for a general audience, but we took particular interest in his note on security.

Open for Business!


Today, the Nasuni Filer officially moves out of its beta period. A free trial of version 1.0 is now available to everyone for download. Trial users can transition into customers and unlock the full power of the Filer, creating multiple cloud volumes and reorganizing their storage with the resources of the cloud behind them.

Last week was another busy one for cloud storage. Some are touting 2010 as the year that cloud storage will really come into its own as a business solution—here are seven good reasons to make the jump. For all the potential benefits, though, there are still concerns, including worries about security and reliability.
