A New Release and a New Cloud

We have been hard at work improving the Nasuni Filer.  Today we are excited to announce a new release of the technology.  This version (1.0-2068) adds a major new storage partner and addresses some of the concerns we have been hearing from our beta testers.  You do not have to download a new version.  The Filer updates automatically. 

Here are the big changes:

New Cloud Partner

The Nasuni Filer now connects to Nirvanix, one of the premier cloud storage providers.  Now you have the option of selecting from three possible clouds, each of which offers unlimited capacity.  All of our cloud storage partners, Nirvanix included, are reliable, available, and fast—we know because we have been testing them.     

Active Directory

We have enhanced our Active Directory support.  Our beta testers suggested a few possible improvements—mostly related to permission inheritance and other related issues in Active Directory security mode—and we implemented them. 

New UI

Some of our customers were stumped by the cache status monitor, and a few other details, in the user interface, so we redesigned it, creating a far more intuitive widget.  Check the blog later this week for more details on that story.

We also made a few smaller adjustments.  And we will continue to make improvements to the Filer, so please keep the comments coming.  Thanks for the great input!
