How to Setup and Configure Snapshot Retention

Snapshot Retention gives you the ability to keep all snapshots or delete snapshots based on time or quantity. This is especially useful if your organization has formal data retention policies or compliance rules. In the following guide, we'll walk through the process of setting a retention schedule by date as well as number of snapshots.

Step 1: Navigate to the "volumes" tab, then click "Volume Properties."

Step 2: The "Volumes Properties" page displays various information about your current volumes. and files. Click the "Snapshot Retention" tab within the volume you would like to configure.

Step 3: On the Snapshot Retention screen you can set up a retention schedule by time or number of snapshots.

Set snapshot Retention within a given time.

Step 4: After selecting your desired retention schedule, click "Save." After the specified period is over the snapshots are permanently deleted and can no longer be retrieved. No one will be able to access that data.
