John Clancy
Executive in Residence, Schooner Capital
John joined Schooner Capital in January of 2010 as an executive in residence focusing on new technology investments and Schooner portfolio development. Before Schooner, John served as President of Iron Mountain Digital, the technology arm of Iron Mountain. During his five-year tenure at Iron Mountain, John started and led the Digital business, which provides cloud-based data protection, archiving, and e-discovery services to thousands of companies around the globe. John came to Iron Mountain after its acquisition of Connected Corporation, the leading provider of cloud-based PC data protection, where he served as COO, responsible for revenue, go-to-market strategy, and overall operational excellence. Prior to his position as COO, John was Connected’s senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. He has also held senior sales management positions at SilverStream Software, Number Nine Visual Technology, and the Merisel Open Computing Alliance. John received a bachelor's degree in political science from Assumption College.
Paul Flanagan
Partner, Sigma Partners
Paul Flanagan is a managing director with Sigma Partners. He came to Sigma in 2006, after serving as Executive VP and CFO at VistaPrint, an online graphic design and print company, which he led through significant revenue growth and its initial public offering in 2005. Prior to VistaPrint, Paul was President and CEO of the storage software and services company StorageNetworks. Before becoming CEO, Paul served as COO and CFO. During his tenure, the company grew from a startup to a publicly traded company. Prior to StorageNetworks, he was VP of Finance for Lasertron, a fiber optics manufacturer. Paul began his career with nine years at Ernst & Young in entrepreneurial services, audit services, and mergers and acquisitions. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Bentley College.
Robert S. Mason, Jr.
Nasuni, Founder and President
As co-founder of Nasuni, Rob brings to bear a 20-year career in storage—with experience in operations, management, and software development. Rob first teamed up with Andres at Archivas, where Rob was the VP of engineering, overseeing all development and quality assurance for the company’s product, an enterprise-class cloud storage system. After Archivas was acquired by Hitachi, Rob continued in his role, as VP of HCAP Engineering, integrating his engineers with the Hitachi team and supporting the global rollout of Hitachi’s Archivas-based product (HCAP). Before joining Archivas, he had a long work history at storage giant EMC, most notably as a senior manager of the Centera Division and as Manager and Principal Design Engineer of the Symmetrix Group. For Centera, Rob oversaw the API, support applications and partner development; for Symmetrix, he headed up the product’s backend team, with a particular emphasis on performance testing and improvement. Rob was also the co-founder and VP of engineering of I/O Integrity, a storage-based startup developing a high-performance caching appliance, and has created storage products for IBM, Memorex-Telex, StorageTek, Siemens, Unisys, and other companies.
Jeffrey P. McCarthy
Partner, North Bridge Venture Partners
Jeff McCarthy joined North Bridge Venture Partners in December 1998. Jeff supported Nasuni co-founder Andres Rodriguez in his previous venture, Archivas, which was acquired by Hitachi Data Systems in 2006. Jeff’s other recent successes include the 2009 initial public offering of A123, an advanced battery maker. Prior to becoming an investor, Jeff had a distinguished career in sales and operations. As the president and CEO of New Oak Communications, a leading provider of extranet access switches, he oversaw all operations and shepherded the company through its acquisition by Bay Networks. Jeff stayed on after the acquisition as VP and General Manager of the Access Division. Before New Oak, Jeff was VP of Sales and Business Development at Cadia Networks, a developer of ATM concentrator products for the service provider marketplace. Jeff also held various senior management positions earlier in his career, including VP of Carrier Operations at Wellfleet Communications/Bay Networks. A magna cum laude graduate of Northeastern University, School of Management, Jeff received his master’s in business administration (also magna cum laude) from Bentley College.
Andres Rodriguez
Nasuni, Founder and CEO
Andres Rodriguez is a visionary entrepreneur with several successful companies behind him. His previous company, Archivas, developed an enterprise-class cloud storage system and was acquired by Hitachi Data Systems in 2006. As Archivas’s founder and CTO prior to the acquisition, Andres led all technology initiatives, spearheaded sales and marketing efforts, and acted as a liaison between sales and engineering. After the acquisition, Andres became CTO of File Services, supporting the worldwide rollout of Hitachi’s Archivas-based product, HCAP. He oversaw the integration of HCAP into the existing Hitachi NAS and SAN product lines. Before founding Archivas, Andres was the CTO of the New York Times, where he drove digital strategy at NYTimes and Boston.com. While there, he worked extensively with their archives on digital content preservation. Andres came to the Times as the co-founder and VP of engineering for Abuzz, a pioneering social networking company the New York Times acquired in 1999.
